Only some will hear the shofar shout

its echoes trumpet across the land

In towns and cities

people alarmed,

on Highland summits

where sheep are now farmed.

Heaven’s mountain overlooks it all

wondering if they’ll heed the call.

The discordant drumming

shakes those still sleeping

As angels wipe away

tears from the weeping

a million footsteps

can be heard if you listen

a million teardrops

of mourning glisten

the prayers of the past

and the future merge

as all paths

into one converge

a nation rises

that was born long ago

a people’s chorus

of songs new and old

an ancient race

towards the finishing line

of all the battles

raged throughout time

the warriors, the heroes

the heroines too

no longer will be shrouded

in red, white and blue

suffering on the cross

for the salvation of all

we’ll set them free

when we answer the call

the call of the needy,

the screams of the poor

the pleas of those

who can’t take any more.

It’s our future too

and I won’t be gagged

on the thorns of the rose

I won’t be snagged

Hung, drawn and quartered

our bodies displayed

to quell down rebellion

in the hopes we will stay

chained like the unicorn

our mythical beast

instead of walking forward

into freedom’s feast.

I just found this among lots of draft blogs.  I could probably add something about The Three Little Pigs but for the sake of posterity I’ll leave it as it was written.

Let us not rush into any more wars,
Not on the word of a liar,
If only his nose grew like little Pinocchio,
Or his pants really did catch on fire.
He is an actor that has learned his trade,
In the Skull and Crossbones secret ways.
He plays with false flags,
As he drives around in jags
Acting like we’re all toys
Here for the joy of the Eton boys
To die in their wars
While inflicting more sores
In a world already so deeply scarred
Minds so terribly marred
Step back from the madness we see
It’s the only way clearly to see
We’ve been programmed with the language of lies
Terror’s been spread in their well acted sighs
Contagious the disease has run wild
Infecting the future of every child
Now they’re calling for more war?
As Scotland’s showing Westminster the door
We ain’t playing your rules,
You blood-thirsty fools
The extremists are your creation,
A result of bombing a nation
Well that and your skulduggery
And out and out thuggery
You think we don’t know
How you write the full script
Then play it over and over in our minds
Our emotions heightened to blind
The tears we have cried at the times you have lied
Have left a gift in their place,
With clarity we looked at the news,
No longer buying your views
Stop acting like we have no choice
And start listening as we speak with one voice
We will not be manipulated any more,
We will no longer fight in your wars
Gone are the ways of the past,
Our true voice set free at last
Peace the proclamation as we move forward with glee,
Reclaiming our sovereignty, we set ourselves free
Into a future at one with the World
Educating and empowering the boys and the girls.
Creating a future that shines a bright light,
On leading with love instead of dominating with might
We’re so close now Scotland, and the death throes are messy
And Cameron may be a bully but he’s also a big jessie!!
He’ll pull out every tool he can find to even the field
But it’s harvest time now and it’s time to yield
The future they planned is ours for the taking.
A future at peace is one we’ll be making
Decommissioning Trident with our courageous hearts
Showing the world we can have a fresh start
No longer tied to the bondage of past
Finally from the chains we’ve broke free at last
Imagining the future, drawing it close
Energising the vision, we want to see most.
Vote YES on the 18th September,
A day future generations will always remember.

I was always told I’m British, since I was a little girl
I was always told of the “Greatness” of this little isle.
I was always told I’m British, it was the only box to tick
I was always told I’m British, they must really think I’m thick!
I was always told I’m British, but I’ve always been a Scot
I was always told I’m British but I’ve always known I’m not.
I was always told I’m British as they sent the troops to war
I was always told I’m British but I had the lion’s roar.
I was always told I’m British as they raised the Union Jack
I was always told I’m British as they plotted behind my back
I was always told I’m British for 40 years that’s been true.
I was always told I’m British, we’ll force our flag on you.
I was always told I’m British, my licence has to bear the flag
I was always told I’m British the whole idea makes me gag.
I was always told I’m British and the bloodshed bore my name
I was always told I’m British and I’ve always held the shame
I was always told I’m British when even as a child I knew
I was always told I’m British but I knew it wasn’t true.
I was always told I’m British but Scotland was my home
I was always told I’m British it made me feel alone.
I was always told I’m British but it never will be true
I was always told I’m British but my flag is saltire blue.
I was always told I’m British and that we’re going to war.
I was always told I’m British and it made my heart sore.
I was always told I’m British but it will never be the case
I was always told I’m British as if it’s a master race.
I was always told I’m British but I’ll never buy the lie
I was always told I’m British, at times it made me cry.
I have always known I’m Scottish born to this land I call home
I have always known I’m Scottish as in these lands I roamed
I have always known I’m Scottish because home is where you’re born
I have always known I’m Scottish as the saltire I adorned.
I have always known I’m Scottish as my history lay in tatters
I have always known I’m Scottish and how our dreams were shattered.
I have always known I’m Scottish and no matter what you do
I’ll always know I’m Scottish because in my heart it’s true.

Yes, Yes Yes!!

Alex Salmond, I’ve gave you it tight.
And in many ways, I don’t think you’re right.
The manifesto you delivered is not the way.
But here is what I want to say.
You are doing what’s needed and taking a stand.
Answering the call from this sacred land.
As the referendum is drawing near
I look forward to the day we cheer.
When democracy rules once more.
When we’ve closed the bolted door.
A sovereign nation set free at last.
To celebrate our cultural past.
Alex Salmond you’re not my type,
But if you listen through all the hype,
You’ll hear me scream with sheer delight,
YES, YES, YES, with all my might
